Municipal waste systems across Africa are under pressure: growing urban populations, limited landfill capacity, and rising methane emissions from unmanaged organic fractions.

Decentralised solutions are gaining traction. Black Soldier Fly larvae processing converts organic waste into protein-rich animal feed and bio-fertiliser, while dramatically reducing methane from anaerobic decomposition.

AMCoP's waste working group is documenting business models that work at county scale, connecting entrepreneurs with technical assistance and linking projects to carbon finance where MRV standards are met.
